Camper Caravan Show

Is it worth going to the camper fair in Nadarzyn?

The Camper Caravan Show at Ptak Warsaw Expo is one of the most interesting spring trade shows for campers and caravans here in Poland. With two halls packed with travel trailers, campervans, modern RVs, and hundreds of clever solutions for caravaning enthusiasts, it’s pretty tough to get bored here. What’s more, it’sactually where we first got to experience the caravaning industry live—and we were total newbies! If you’re wondering whether it’s worth heading down to Nadarzyn this weekend, the answer is a huge YES. It’s absolutely worth it, not just to check out the vehicles, but also to chat with the exhibitors, test out different solutions, and really feel that vibe of independence that the ‘life on wheels’ gives you.

So, where did the idea to buy a travel trailer actually come from?

We can sum up our idea to buy a travel trailer pretty quickly, and here's the nutshell version:
For the past few years, we’ve been living between two countries: Poland and Spain. We spend a ton of time driving around in both. We run a portal about Spain, and we put a special emphasis on motorized travel because, honestly, we never go anywhere without our own car. Up until now, we’d been renting apartments in Spain—sometimes for a year, sometimes six months, sometimes just a few weeks—and we were still driving all over the peninsula, shelling out money for hotels. It was 2018. One day, while picking out the next Spanish city we wanted to live in, we had an epiphany (a lightbulb moment):

what if we just lived in our car?!

Hold on, live in a car…?! How exactly would that work?! So, we started analyzing tons of different options. What about an old camper van? Nah, no way—that’s a hard pass. We’d be miserable driving an antique like that, especially since we clock in over 50,000 km a year (I mean, forget about modern conveniences like cruise control, AC, or even… power steering!).

Alright, so how about we just get a second car, maybe something like a Kangoo?

It’s super popular in Spain to convert cars with that kind of body style into mini-campers. So, should we just buy a vehicle like that and turn it into a bedroom on wheels? No, bad idea. That little car is definitely way too small!

Okay, how about this: we get a cargo van and just build our own camper?

Hmm… no, that’s way too much work. We absolutely need a real bathroom—showers at rest stops and portable toilets are definitely off the table for us. That means converting a cargo van would be incredibly time-consuming, not to mention expensive. So, what’s the move?

Maybe we should get a rooftop tent for our car?!

No, no, okay, we hadn't quite lost our minds enough to live in a tent for several months. Not only would we be totally exposed to the weather, but we’d still have that annoying bathroom and toilet problem!

So, how about this… why don't we just buy a travel trailer?!

We already have our own car, so we’ve got all the modern conveniences we need. Plus, travel trailers offer the option of a big bathroom with a shower and a cassette toilet. It sounded fantastic! So, we started scouting online to see where we could check out different trailers near our city in Poland. It quickly became clear that Poland doesn’t have dealership-style showrooms for trailers in those kinds of numbers, like they do for cars. The only real way to see even a handful of different manufacturers at once was at used-trailer lots or trade shows. Initially, we wanted to buy a brand new trailer, so the used lots kind of put us off with the thought of old, beat-up ones. We started looking for trade shows. The one in Poznań had already wrapped up, but it turned out there was one happening in Nadarzyn the very next week. We acted fast—within two days, we’d bought tickets and made the decision to head to Ptak Warsaw Expo for the adventure of a lifetime: buying a travel trailer!

So, what exactly can you see at the Camper Caravan Show?

We immediately headed straight to the Niewiadów booth, because you’ve gotta support Polish products, right? The Niewiadów trailers were really nice, well-built, and quite affordable (we were aiming for a budget of about PLN 50,000 for our little wild idea). Unfortunately, we found out that the models featuring a bathroom were, first off, significantly more expensive (and if you recall, the no-bathroom option was totally out of the question for us). Secondly, while those cute little white 'balls' are definitely Polish, lightweight, and nicely made, they’re seriously cramped inside. They’d be fine for a couple of days, sure. But for a couple of weeks? That’s a hard maybe.Still, we have a soft spot for those little 'balls' and they definitely have a lot going for them as a vacation option.

Disappointed by the failure of our 'white ball' idea, we decided to check out the rest of the trailers. Man, they were decked out! Huge, shiny, modern, with all sorts of different layouts from various manufacturers... and pretty pricey. They definitely blew our budget out of the water. We figured that since the amount we'd have to spend on a trailer was so huge (at least for us), we absolutely had to test out whether we could even live and work in a rig like that. Simply put: Is caravaning even for us?

We’ve been living that travel-oriented lifestyle for over a dozen years now. Initially, we focused on Poland, working for the Educational Research Institute, where we conducted research in elementary schools all across the country.

Super! Oto ten fragment, który podkreśla kontrast między wcześniejszymi podróżami a pomysłem "karawaningu", utrzymany w luźnym, ale rzetelnym tonie: Tłumaczenie: "Later on, we started traveling to and around Spain, but we always rented apartments there. So, we had a base—a normal spot for working and living—while our trips around the country varied. We often slept in our personal car, and we frequently stayed in hotels for just one night. But here’s the thing: we always had a home base to return to. That meant a normal apartment, with a normal kitchen, bathroom, terrace, garage, stable internet… you know, the works.

But what about a travel trailer? It would be a little reckless to take out a loan for something that might turn out to be a total bust after just one month—something that's completely not for us. There was only one solution: rent a trailer for a month, hit the road, live in it, cook in it, shower in it, and really give caravaning a proper try. We sifted through a ton of rental offers and quickly realized it was an expensive game. More expensive than hotels! We soon figured out that renting a trailer for 30 days would cost us almost as much as we’d pay for an older trailer that we could actually buy, customize to our needs, test out the lifestyle, and then either sell it or keep it on a plot of land somewhere.

So, what was missing from the trade show in Nadarzyn?

Choć wystawcy dopisali, a organizacja była dość dobra, brakowało nam tzw. karawaningowej duszyWhat was missing was a dedicated space where enthusiasts could actually meet up and show off their old, lovingly restored trailers. You know, in one of the halls, right next to all the shiny new models, there should have been trailers with a real story—the kind that have a soul and have survived hundreds of trips across Europe.

The second cool option would be to have some sort of trailer consignment area. That venue is huge, so if they carved out a section for everyone who has used trailers they want to sell, it would be awesome and really useful for both parties involved.

The Bottom Line – Do We Recommend the Camper Caravan Show?

Getting back to the trade show, it was especially important for us, because it was right there, after checking out dozens of different trailers, that we made the decision we wanted to give this a try. The selection was truly massive.

Is it worth the trip? I definitely think so! Even if you’re not planning to buy a trailer, you’ll see the newest solutions, meet with experts, and totally catch the caravaning bug. We certainly did. To the point that later that same year, we returned for another show—this time with our very own trailer.

Camper Caravan Show Nadarzyn: What Attendees Thought

Opinions among attendees of the Camper Caravan Show in Nadarzyn are divided. Most visitors praise the large number of exhibitors and the chance to see hundreds of motorhome, trailer, and accessory models live. For many, this is the only opportunity during the year to compare different brands, check out interior layouts, and speak directly with manufacturers.

Some point out that the show lacks a slightly less formal meeting zone where experienced travelers could share their stories from the road and practical advice. Despite this, most attendees admit that the event is inspiring and allows them to gain knowledge and ideas for future trips. For people planning to purchase a trailer or motorhome, it provides real assistance in selecting the right model.

There was also some criticism regarding the organization of the rally, but we did not participate in it, so it is difficult for us to express an unambiguous opinion. Perhaps we will attend the 2026 edition — then we will add a photo and video report and our own impressions of the rally part of the event.
